You must see this Monday’s eclipse

You’re tired of hearing about it everywhere: this next Monday, August 21st 2017, there will be a total solar eclipse. And, for the first time in 40 years, it will be visible all across the United States (a thin strip across 14 states will experience as a total, not a partial eclipse). Its rareness is certainly one of the reasons you should go out to these places and see it, but not the most important one. As the above video says, you should try and see the total eclipse because of how it will make you feel.

Why travel to those places where the eclipse will be total? Annie Dillard put it like this: “Seeing a partial eclipse bears the same relation to seeing a total eclipse as kissing a man does to marrying him, or as flying in an airplane does to falling out of an airplane.” I hope you’re convinced now.
